WE ALMOST LOST OURSELVES IN IT, BUT NOT ENTIRELY

We thought everything about the show, characters, opera house, amd singing were spot.on except a few minor things wth far reaching consequences. The phantom was trying to hard to make the phantoms part his own - constantly changing or ad libbing, very little stuck to the original stuff, i hated this because the lack of seeing stage hands allowed us to lose ourselves in the show, but him doing this kept jolting us back to reality. Super annoying! Sometimes things felt rushed, and there was not even close to the amount of emotion you should have been.able to expect from such a fantastic show and group of actors, actresses and singers. But other than these things, the show was completely worthwhile and we both loved it

A VIEW FROM THE UK

We stayed in Manhattan for three days during Thanksgiving week (20-23 Nov 2006) and decided to see Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic. There were only 7 seats left when we booked on the day before seeing the show. We had seats in the rear mezzanine, but being steeply tiered, could see the stage very clearly. The performance was very good and we would recommend it to others. The set, costumes and singing were magnificent and despite the music being very familiar, was throughly entertaining. My only concern was the huge crush of people trying to leave at the end of the show - the limited exit routes would not have passed a Health & Safety Audit in the UK!

MUSIC IS WORTH IT!

Visited NYC for first time and had to see one more show. Stood in the cancellation line and got a ticket (Sorry for the dad that got sick but...) I didn't think I would like it at first, couldn't understand the words and couldn't see faces well from where I was seated but the MUSIC was great. I can't get the music out of my head. No the sound in the theater wasn't that great but the show was well worth seeing. If I ever go again I will get tickets before I go and pay the price for closer seats.

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA REVIEW

My first time in New York City and I topped it off with Phantom of the Opera. It was really well planned out and really well done. Im in theatre myself and I really like the experience up on the stage acting. Before I went to see it on Broadway I watched the movie many times in the Band room at my high school. I would have to say its a lot different on stage than in the movie. I would have to say that Phantom of the Opera on broadway is much better

PHANTOM- PHANTASTIC ~ THEATER PERSONNEL- OBNOXIOUS!

Okay, I know we were in NYC, but seriously! A floor attendant was barking orders at theater patrons like a bad teacher trying to control the classroom by screaming at the poor students. His performance, was unfortunatley, the one I remembered the most. Please reconsider your technics for audience control. As for the REAL performers, "BRAVO". It was "Phantastic".

GREAT SHOW, DISAPPOINTING THEATER...

I was very excite to go and experience my first broadway show ever in nyc. I have to say the show itself was very good, it kept my attention through out the show. The theater was disappointing, the seating was very small and narrow, my husband is not a big guy and yet he had to stretch his legs towards my side to keep from bumping the head of the person in front of us. The biggest complain we have is the staff of the theater, they were rude and pushy. When I asked for direction for the seating, the lady sounded very impatient and arrogant. When the show was over, the gentlemen who was directing us out was commenting everyone like a hurdle of animals, yelling across and saying: "hurry up, I want to go home sometime tonight and I have a cleaning crew coming, hurry!!!" Excuse us but I paid good money for the show and that was no way of treating the customers like that, and that somewhat killed my experience for the evening.

ALL IN ALL, AMAZING!

First off, I just have to say that Cooper Grodin (Phantom) has the voice that will warm the cold off of your frostbitten cheeks and melt your heart into a puddle of pure satisfaction. That man can sing! The rest of the cast did not fall short. Julia Udine (Christine) is very talented and likable. The choreography was impressive, the singing was phenomenal, (although a bit enigmatic at some parts), and the set was unbelievable. The small changes made to the plot are refreshing and entertaining. However, I did not feel a strong emotional bond between the Phantom and Christine, and between Christine and Raul. (Ben Jacoby). I didn't feel as if Raul and Christine passionately loved each other, or that Christine thought of the Phantom as anything else but a creep. Also, for a Phantom newbie, like my fiancé, some parts were confusing. I had to explain during intermission. Overall, a fantastic play! My sister went with her middle school choir, she loved it! I Recommend this for your family!
