Why See The Little Mermaid?
An Annual Charity Broadway Spectacular
Dive into the magic of beloved Disney classic The Little Mermaid at Columbus' Palace Theater this winter, and all for a good cause too! The Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Children's Hospital is an organization of women who are committed to raising funds for the primary paediatric hospital and for their annual Broadway-style charity spectacular they're inviting audiences on a whirlwind trip to the land Under The Sea with all proceeds going towards the Nationwide Children's Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care Program.
Disney's The Little Mermaid splashed from the silver screen and onto the Great White Way in 2008, bringing along with it a beloved score by Oscar winning composer Alan Menken, who adapted the original's singable tunes for the stage. The rollicking musical theatre romp follows the titular Disney princess Ariel, a spirited mermaid not content with letting her father make her decisions for her. Rebelling against her destiny as a siren, she ventures to the surface with sidekicks Sebastian (the crabbiest crab you'll ever meet) and Flounder (a firm fishy friend), setting in to motion an adventure that takes place on both land and under the water. Determined to forge her own path, Ariel falls in love and must overcome more than just a lack of legs to secure her happy ending!
