Edwaard Liang's version of Romeo and Juliet is coming back Spring 2024!
Edwaard Liang's celebrated work Romeo and Juliet floats into the Ohio Theatre April 2024. With an enchanting score by Sergei Prokofiev, this Shakespearean tragedy combines romance and the classical. First premiering in 2012, world-renowned choreographer Edwaard Liang created his first full-length ballet originally for Tulsa Ballet. This interpretation of Romeo and Juliet is the latest work to enter BalletMet's repertoire.
First commissioned by Tulsa Ballet's Marcello Angelini, this version of Romeo and Juliet proved to be a huge challenge former New York City Ballet member Liang, as he had only previously created short contemporary pieces. However, his first classical full-length was lauded by both patrons and critics alike, and is now headed to various ballet companies across the States and abroad.
