75th Anniversary

In celebration of its 75th anniversary, Columbus Symphony Orchestra presents a triple threat of works featuring a world premiere performance, an appearance from an opera superstar and a classic of the canon. Gregory Spears' The Mysteries opens the performance for its first ever live presentation, followed by Concerto No. 2: ANTHEM, a re-examination of the American national anthem composed by acclaimed bass-baritone Davone Tines in collaboration with Caroline Shaw, Michael Schachter, Tyshawn Sorey, and poet Mahogany L. Browne.

Finally, rounding off a stellar program is Tchaikovsky's wondrous Fifth Concerto, a piece full of color and a contemplation upon fate which, despite being received with hostility at many of its early performances, has since gone on to become one of the composer's best loved works.
