50th anniversary tour

Transcontinental World music pioneers Shakti are reuniting to celebrate their 50th Anniversary this summer with a new tour! Known for fusing Eastern and Western music to create Indian-Jazz joy, Shakti is a quintet of some of the genre's biggest names; John McLaughlin Zakir Hussain, with Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram and Ganesh Rajagopalan. The tour isn't the only exciting thing planned for this esteemed anniversary - keep your ears open for the new album!

Despite only releasing three albums during their original 70s run, Shakti's short time had a huge impact on the music scene, establishing World music on the international stage.
